Connor Shares the Good News
There are many days I wonder if what I’m teaching my children is being retained by their precious, little minds. I know Connor understands the ABC’s…he sings the songs. But when it comes to faith, am I doing the job God is pleased with? I am left wondering that some days and then there are those very rare moments when God, Himself reaffirms the role He specifically blessed me with.
Please read the following e-mail I received from our daycare provider today. She rarely e-mails me so, at first, I was a little concerned but upon reading the context I am blessed to have it in writing to share with you. May you be blessed by the innocent faith of our three-year-old.
Hi Betsy,
I just had to share this with you–I’m afraid I would either forget or it would be too hectic at pick up time.
Shortly after you left this morning Connor and Logan Choppers got into a disagreement over a toy so I decided that today we would try something a little different. I put two dining room chairs facing each other and set one boy in each. They were to sit and talk nicely to each other and show me what good friends they could be. I sat back, playing with our other friends and listened.
At first they continued to talk about who had Bob first, then Connor changed the subject. He asked Logan if he had Jesus in his heart. Logan lifted up his shirt and said “no, see.” Connor laughed and said, “No Choppers, you can’t see Jesus in your heart you just feel him and he makes you feel good. You should get Jesus in your heart.” Logan’s attention span was depleted by then and he changed the subject to sleeping at grandma’s house, but for that moment, I got to see Jesus in Connor’s heart.
The next time someone asks me how I can stand to “do” daycare I’ll share this story with them…out of the mouth of babes!
Hope you’re having a great day-we’ve just finished lunch and it’s time for a Veggie Tale (special rainy day treat!)
Love,
Cherie
I pray you will have a blessed day and may one of these types of “rare moments” regarding your own child be gifted to you, as well.
Betsy
Hello Betsy
Thank you for sharing this with us, I got alittle misty too just reading it. It is truly amazing how much Connor understands at his age.
But as I have said many time it is because he has such wonderful loving parents who teach him about Jesus in his heart.
All i can say is way to go little buddy Connor
Again thanks for sharing this…..
Blessings
Richard
Thank you so much for sharing that! I, too, wonder what faith my children are absorbing. I have four children aged 14, 12 and twins who are 5 1/2. A couple of months ago I shared with my friends this “epiphany” from one of my twins, Robert. He said, out of the blue at lunch one day: “If everything in the whole wide world was broken and not working, and everything is quiet — then you can hear God talking to you.” I absolutely stopped in my tracks, dumbfounded that he would say that, hugged him, and told him that I thought he was absolutely right.
I just wanted to share that and to tell you that this internet ministry, as well as your radio program, are so precious. I think you have found what you truly want to do with this season of your lives.
Kristy
You are truly blessed, dear Kristy. You are obviously in the midst of a wonderful season yourself. For Robert to know about God talking in our lives is something many of us grown-ups long to understand.
As long as we keep on seeking an intimate relationship with our Lord and Savior our children will reap the “true rewards”. We will be blessed but isn’t it better to see our children showered with His amazing gifts because of our own faithfulness? I certainly think so.
I want to interject something that Pastor Ray Logan reminded Ken and me of recently. It’s something we’ve heard many times but it is so fitting at this very moment. “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6
Kristy, it is my sincere hope and prayer that your children will be abundantly blessed because of your love for Jesus Christ. May His love and protection envelope them all the days of their lives and know that we are blessed by your story.
With tears of joy from one Mom to another~

Thank you for your kind words and blessing, Betsy. I hadn’t had the time to check back here in (more than) a few days. My children are all tucked in for the night, and all is quiet around here. Reading your comment got me teary-eyed just thinking of how special my children are and the faith that is so important for me to impart.
Your Proverbs quote fits in exactly with what I am doing by listening to KFSI wherever I drive with my children. (My husband sounds exactly like your Ken. He has yet to find his way with the Lord. He prefers not to listen to KFSI, but wholly supports the family’s going to church, Sunday school, confirmation, etc.) Back to my point . . . my children will repeat what they have heard. When they hear songs about Jesus, that’s what they repeat, and there is absolutely NO sweeter music than that. When we drive to choir on Wednesday nights, KFSI plays the children’s music from 6-6:30, and my little twins just love it. They even remember from week to week if they’ve heard the same song! And do they ever love to sing about Jesus. Do you know Amy Grant’s version of “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus?” They love that song (and ALL of that cd of hers). I could ramble on and on, but I think you might understand already. Take care, Kristy
