Freedom Fest 2008…A Night to Remember!

I think the title says it all.  Betsy and I were looking forward to this event for months, then suddenly it arrived.  Freedom Fest was put on by Valley Christian Center (VCC) in Spring Valley, MN.  For the third year the growth in the festival continues.  The local vendors, the fun activities for kids and adults were a lot of fun.  The dog show competition was cute from what I saw and the Brown Family sounded awesome.  The free watermelon hit the spot and Farmer Gary’s son Simon was handing out free water as if we were all planning a trip across the desert :-) .  I was so proud of him and his enthusiasm.    Betsy and I had our own booth to promote Faith-Stories.com as well as KFSI.  We were in a whirlwind of people coming around talking and picture taking.  We were planting seeds and fertilizing seeds already planted.  I wanted to shoot some video of the festival with the sun out, but we were swamped, so all I got was the bombastic firework display that night.  We both got on stage to share our testimony, and that went well.  I reminded everyone at the end of our talk that this event is to remember our troops, current and past.  I told the crowd to say ‘thank you for serving’ to every soldier they run into.  It only takes a quick moment, and I am a firm believer that every American should do so, regardless of you view on wars past or current.  Take a listen to this song written by three current soliders who have been in Iraq.  Wipe off your tears and come back if you leave.  Off my soapbox…As far as the fireworks, they lasted 25 minutes.  The sky was lit up with all the colors of the rainbow.  The concussion bombs were so loud, it was so cool to hear the sounds echo through the town.

In closing this was the best night Betsy and I have had in years…Years.  We thank all of you in Spring Valley for making us feel so welcome to your event (2,500 to almost 3,000 people in attendance).  Thank you to VCC for the new friendships and how you and the Lord brought your community and other surrounding communities together for this event.  Thanks to the Spring Valley Tribune for the story in the newspaper.   Again a HUGE thank you!

Peace…

Ken
