The Little Things Make For A Big Day
It has been a monumental day! Huge, if you will!
It all started with a simple word (I hope this doesn’t bother you), poopy. Caden is 26 months and while he has quite frequently been saying that word since learning what it means, he said it this morning with great enthusiasm. I didn’t waste a moment and quickly put him on the potty. A couple of grunts and pushes later he had accomplished a big boy feat that was cause for celebration. Stickers for everyone!!! And a song and dance by Mommy that needn’t ever been seen (or done) again.
Tonight, Connor and I were outside with some neighbor kids. As dusk approached, out came the flying stars better known as fireflies or lightning bugs. I showed Connor how to gently cup his hands around them and peak through his fingers to see the light that eluminates, as he puts it, ‘from their bottoms’.
It may not sound like a monumental day to most but for me, it’s one I won’t forget. These simple moments and simple feats will not be taken for granted. The memories that God is creating for me through these times with my husband and children are worth more than I can possibly explain.
May you know what it’s like to live and love in the moment and be loved more than you’ve ever felt.
Blessings, Betsy
